ripping speed

What DVD ripping speed should I be expecting from a USB 2.0 DVD drive? The box
that the DVD drive came in lists read-speeds of 10, 16 and 21 MB/sec depending
on the medium, but it takes about 25 minutes to rip an 8GB disk, which translates
to about 5 MB/sec. Is that about normal real-world performance, or is there
something I could tweak to make it go faster?

Not sure if this answers your question but I have an internal DVD burner that I use to read DVDs with. It's a P4 3 GHZ system. It takes about 18 mins to rip a 2 hour movie. Just to give you a guide as to what happens on my end.
