Hello List,
you probably won't believe it, but even in some regions of Berlin,
Germany, the Internet is only accessible through low-speed connections.
If you consider the (very welcome) traffic on the itext-list, it's quite
clear that those people who have to rely on these bottlenecks, will get
in serious trouble if too many list members start sending example-pdfs
of even medium size.
Unfortunately, as you may already suspect, I'm one of those guys.
I would like to encourage everyone on this list to think twice before
sending huge example-files (for example even 3-5 files of 300KB need
sometimes over 5 minutes to download!) to the thousands of itext-list
members.
A practical alternative would be to only send those files to private
mail adresses of potential helping hands after contacting them over the
list. In my opinion this would prevent us from creating a two-class
Internet (which it is already, in fact), and from tremendous
data-traffic overhead.
Hope, no one is bothered about this approach.
Greetings from Berlin and the Football (soccer!) World Championship 2006,
Tim
