createAwtImage

I’m using IText to generate a java.awt.Image using the ‘public java.awt.Image createAwtImage(Color foreground, Color background) ‘ function.  I’m using this as I don’t want anything to do with pdf’s.  I just want an image that I can play around with in java and have returned using a servlet to a web page.
My question is that when creating a barcode128 while passing in a string of “83C40E-Adsa56-00123a” which is standard for what I’m going to be doing the return image is about 90mm wide, I need it to be between 55 & 68mm wide.  Is there anyway of getting IText to do this or if I just resized it manually after it was generated would that still be valid for a barcode?
